It employs the same principle as the wire submerged arc, but it uses a strip or band. Its main use is for hard facing. Given the material application area, it turns to be five times quicker than a traditional arc.
It uses a typical subarc system but with amperages greater than 1,400 amps.
It can apply classic short circuit arc (as well as subarc) or electroslag arc. The last one serves only to coat with a minimal penetration at high speed.
